Hankook debuts improved super-single drive-axle truck tire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Hankook Tire America Corp. has introduced the Hankook e3 WiDE DL21, a super-single long-haul drive tire that boasts greater life and mileage over its predecessor, the DL07.

Hankook said the e3 WiDE DL21 offers a 2-percent increase in tread life and a 10-percent drop in rolling resistance versus its predecessor.ADVERTISING

The tread pattern features Hankook’s three-dimensional siping technology, which helps to increase the tire’s traction, lifespan and performance, Hankook said. The redesigned tread includes seven main grooves, reducing tread block cracking throughout its life.

At the heart of the e3 WiDE DL21’s improvements is Hankook’s Smartec TBR technology, an integrated manufacturing process combining the five main tire performance factors of safety, mileage, anti chip-cut, retreadability and traction, the company said.

The tire has Hankook’s “Spiral-Coil” belt technology for “optimized” footprint and reinforced casing stability, the latter of which, along with an improved bead profile, helps improve retreadability.

It’s available in size 445/50R22.5 and features 24/32nds-inch tread depth.

Hankook did not disclose pricing information.
